Price Of Music Magazine
The price of my magazine is going to be £3.00 because it will be a reasonable price for my demographic of age and pyschographics of a grade D reading level. This is because the age range for my magazine is only 15-24 so a lot of the people buying my magazine will have a low paid job or be unemployed. My magazine is going to be published once a month because my magazine costs more than a weekly magazine and the people who buy the magazine will have more time to buy the latest issue and enough time to read the magazine and listen to the CD some of the issues will have inside.
Target Audience For Music Magazine
My target audience for my music magazine is going to be ages 15-24 and dominantly male in the demographics for gender and age.The demographics for the National Readership Survey will be grade D, semi-skilled and unskilled manual workers. The psychographics for my magazine will be groups who are outer and inner-directed e.g integrated.

Choice Of Genre For Music Magazine
The music genre I am going to choose for my music magazine is metal/ rock. This is because it is my favourite music genre and I listen to a lot of metal bands from the 1980's to present day. I will want to feature bands such as:
Metallica
Lamb Of God
Machine Head
and Dream Theater
Trivium
Lamb Of God
The magazine’s which have these bands in them are ‘Kerrang!’ and ‘Metal Hammer’. The video below is the band Trivium playing the song ‘In Waves’ from their latest album which was released on the 9th August 2011. This song was the single they released about two months before the album was available to purchase.

LIIAR Evaluation Of College Magazine
LIIAR Evaluation
Language
My college magazine or media product develops and uses forms and conventions from other college magazines I researched by doing a LIIAR analysis of them. My college magazine has a brightly coloured masthead at the top, left hand corner of the magazine. The masthead is abbreviated from Wyke College Magazine to WCM. All of the writing on the front cover is in the same font and font colour, white with a dark purple background behind it. The banner headline is only one deck and says ‘Highest Pass Rate!’, it is directly below the masthead making it easily visible. The student on the front links to the banner headline because the student looks like he is a hard worker but at the same time he looks relaxed and happy which gives a positive impression on the college. All of the text is on the left hand side of the page which makes it look neat and organised but also quite boring. I have used straplines to shorten the stories in the magazine and made them sound interesting and exciting. For the house style, I have used purple as the colour and I have used only one font throughout the front cover and contents page.
Institution
Wyke Sixth Form College might distribute my magazine because it is all about Wyke College and what it has to offer.
Ideology
My college magazine is set out of represented to people who want to attend Wyke College or who are interested in joining it and want to find out more about the college and what it has to offer.
Audience
For my media product, the audience would usually be in the range of 15-24 year olds, mainly consisting of 16-18 year olds because that is the age of a college student. Also because the language I have used is informal and is directed towards teenagers and young adults. My magazine is also suitable for all socio-economic groups (SEG) because the sentences and sentence structures are short and understandable. My magazine is directed at inner and outer-directed groups or integrated groups as it has facts, trips and it mentions the technology the college use.
Representation
Many teenagers are usually interested in things which benefit them as a person, so I mentioned college trips and put in photos of the college to show what it looks like so people could observe it and find out what the trips are like, how long you are there for and what you do on the trip. This will draw the reader into the article and the pictures will give them something to look at. The model in on the front cover has headphones hanging down from his t-shirt which many teenagers do so they can have easy access to their music because teenagers are probably more interested in music than anything else in this stage of their lives. The contents page also shows a picture of the Statue Of Liberty and says next to it the abbreviated version of New York ‘NYC’ which is located in America. Most teenagers dreams is to go to New York to go shopping to buy clothes, jewellery or music. This is why I mentioned the Media trip to New York so that it convinces people to go to the college and to take media at the college.

Target Audience
I think my target audience should be the studants of Wyke Sixth Form College. This is because I think that the studants fit into all four of the psychographics, as some of the studants like to fit in with the people there and some like to be 'special' and have their own style of clothes and personality. I will hopefully be able to achive this for my magazine using outer and inner-directed headlines for articles. So for the group driven by needs I will include important information such as what the has to offer in terms of facilities and subects. For the groups who are inner-directed there will be interviews with some studants studying the most popular and most interesting subjects. I will appeal to the groups who are outer-directed by mentioning all the different types of people with different trends in the college. For the groups who are inner and outer-directed, there will be interviews with one teacher per subject who will keep the studants up to date with all the events in the college such as the trips .
The demographics for the National Readership Survay's social grades will probably fall into grade E which are the unemployed, casual labourers and state pentioners which is 13% of the population. This is because most of the people who will read this will be studants with a low paid job or are umemployed.

Price
I have decided to make my college magazine seasonal, so there will be up to four issues a year (winter, spring, summer and autumn). This is because alot of colleges use this method for publishing their college magazine. I think that my magazine should be affordable for people who will read it, normally aged 15-24. The price will probably be £2 per issue and should give discount for students with NUS cards. This will be an affordable price for the age demographic I have chosen because if it is too expensive, they would probably rather spend it on something else which they want such as a weekly magazine.
Choice Of College
I decided to choose Wyke Sixth Form College because I study at the college so I know what the college has to offer in terms of facilities, teaching and subjects. I think that Wyke College will be a good college to do my magazine for because the buildings are very modern and the atmosphere feels inviting, friendly and relaxed. I also feel that I could describe the views and values in a very persuasive manner.
LIIAR Analysis Of Lewisham College Magazine
Front Page
L: This issue of the Lewisham College magazine has a clear and brightly coloured masthead in the top, left hand corner of the front cover and the colleges name is abbriviated to 'The LC'. All of the writing on the cover is in the same font and colour and the logo in the bottom right hand corner is also in the same, white font colour. The bright, white font colour stands out from the background making it easier to read and all the features are set down the left hand side of the page. This makes the cover look neat and organized and makes the reader look from the masthead, down to the features and then the logo in the right hand corner.
The banner headline 'Fresh Talent' relates to the picture because the person is holding a pair of drumsticks in his hand so it must mean that the talent is musical talent. Also, the model in the image looks relaxed and laid-back with a low-angled shot to show the confidence of the model. The must want the reader to think that their college is like this with all of their studants.
I: The college for this magazine is Lewisham college in London. They have used this studant to feature in the front cover because his relaxed posture and his facial expression gives off a positive vibe but also shows that he takes his work for his courses seriously. The college will want this because it will make the studants feel comfortable with their suroundings and will help them to concerntrate in their lessons.
I: I think that the idea of this college magazine is to give the studants a feeling of freedom in the college so that the studants feel as though they are in a work place rather than a school. The college also want the reader to believe that the college wants people who are talented at something.
A: I think that the college studants will have a positive attitude towards the magazine because the front cover mentions 'NYC' and 'fresh talent' which will attract many of the studants and will want them to read on.
R: Young adults and teenagers are usually more interested in music then they are in any other stage in their lives. The magazine uses this to to draw more readers of that age in. This also makes the college look as though they are interested in musical talent. So this would make studants want to join the college so that they can show their musical talent and also study music as an A Level. Also, the model is wearing branded trainers and has earphones hanging down from his neck which many teenages do in modern day colleges to make it easy to access their music on their iPods.
Contents Page
L: The contents page for the Lewisham College magazine is presented in the same font as the cover but the font colour has been switched around. The main headlines in the magazine are in pink to make it stand out to the rest of the text. The contents are down the left hand side of the page, to the left of the 'Note From The Principal'. This is well organised and clearly listed with the titles of the articles along with the page references. Their catchy headings for their artilces make the reader want to read more about it and the text below the headings also make the reader interested in the what the college has to say. The text below the pink headings are accompanied by pictures which catch your eye straight away because many readers prefare short texts with picures around them. The 'Note From The Principle' is not too formal and is inviting to the reader which gives the impression that the staff at the college are friendly and have a positive towards the subject they teach and the new studants they will meet.

Preliminary Task
Preliminary Exercise: Using DTP and an image manipulation program, produce the front page of a new school/college magazine, featuring a photograph of a studant in medium close-up plus some appropriately laid-out text and a masthead. Additionally you must produce a mock-up of the layout of the contents page to demonstrate their grasps of DTP.
